Alternatives

BoldSign alternatives, chosen by what you actually need

BoldSign is cheap and capable, so people rarely leave it over signatures. They leave because the work around the signature has grown: agreements are now drafted and redlined, decks go out to investors before the SAFE does, or the team wants one place for all of it. Whichever tool you choose, take your signed history with you.

What to weigh before you compare prices

  1. 1

    Where the document comes from

If every agreement is a finished PDF, a signing tool is enough. If agreements are drafted and negotiated, a tool that edits the document saves an export and re-upload on every round.

  2. 2

    Moving your history

Your signed PDFs and audit trails are the record. Check that a new tool keeps them exactly as issued, and that who signed, when and what was sent comes across too.

  3. 3

    API and embedding

If you embed signing in your own product, compare embedded signing APIs specifically. If you automate around signing, a broad REST API, webhooks and Zapier matter more.

  4. 4

    How you pay

BoldSign is inexpensive per sender. Per-workspace pricing wins when many people read, review or sign and few send.

6 alternatives to BoldSign

Described by what each is best at, as of 27 October 2026. The first is ours.

  1. 1. XDocs

Best for: Teams that also draft, negotiate and share, and want their BoldSign history brought across

A collaborative editor with signatures in the document, tracked links with gates, data rooms, reading analytics, a full REST API, webhooks, Zapier and an MCP server. A BoldSign export imports with every signed PDF and audit trail as issued, a spreadsheet of each document's signers and activity, and the raw backup kept untouched. Free for 5 sends a month; Pro $29, Business $99 a month for the whole team. No eIDAS qualified signatures yet.

  2. 2. Dropbox Sign

Best for: Developers embedding signing in their product

Formerly HelloSign. A polished signing page and a well-documented embedded signing API; no editor of its own.

  3. 3. DocuSign

Best for: Enterprises that need the widest compliance footprint

The best-known e-signature service, with eIDAS qualified signatures and notarization options. Usually the most expensive choice per user.

  4. 4. SignNow

Best for: Low-cost signing with native mobile apps

Inexpensive signing of uploaded documents with templates, bulk send and mobile apps. A free trial rather than a lasting free plan.

  5. 5. Zoho Sign

Best for: Teams already on Zoho

E-signature that fits the Zoho suite, with a small free tier. Little for drafting or sharing outside Zoho's own apps.

  6. 6. DocuSeal

Best for: Developers who want to self-host signing

Open-source e-signature you can run on your own server, with hosted plans too. Check which features the free self-hosted edition includes.

Questions people ask first

How do I export everything from BoldSign?
Download the signed documents and their audit trails from the BoldSign app, along with your contacts. XDocs imports that export as it is: signed PDFs and audit trails untouched, filed by status, with each document's signers and activity in a spreadsheet linked to its PDF.
Will my BoldSign signatures still be valid?
Yes. A completed signature's validity rests on the signed PDF and its audit trail, wherever they are stored. Moving tools does not re-sign or alter them.
Is there a cheaper alternative to BoldSign?
For one person who only signs, BoldSign is already among the cheapest. XDocs is cheaper once several people need to read, edit or sign, because it is priced per workspace: free for 5 sends a month, then $29 or $99 a month for everyone.
