- Is it really free, and do I need an account?
- Yes, and no. Merging is free with no account, no email address and no watermark, and there is no limit on how many times you use it.
- Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere?
- No. The files are read and joined by code running in your browser. They are never sent to XDocs or anyone else, which is why a large merge can take a few seconds on an older phone.
- How many PDFs can I merge?
- As many as your device has memory for. Dozens of ordinary documents are no trouble; hundreds of large scans may be slow on a phone.
- Will the pages look the same?
- Yes. Each page is copied whole, with its text, images, rotation and size, so a landscape page stays landscape and a scanned page stays a scan. Text stays selectable where it was before.
- What happens to form fields and links?
- Filled-in forms keep how they look, and links on the page keep working. The fields stop being one fillable form, because two forms cannot be joined without renaming their fields. Fill them in first, with our free Fill a PDF tool if you like.
- What PDFs will not work?
- Password-protected PDFs cannot be merged until the password is removed in your PDF reader. Damaged files are refused when you add them, and the others are kept.
- Can I get the merged PDF signed?
